This weekend, there is a great risk of avalanches in Western Norway and significant danger in several other regions. “Avoid avalanche terrain,” the avalanche warning service says.

There have been several serious avalanches recently. Three French men lost their lives in an avalanche in Lyngen in Troms earlier this week.

There has been a lot of fresh snow in the mountains in several areas in recent days. Also this weekend, a lot of fresh snow is expected in several places.

“We recommend everyone avoid avalanche terrain,” on-duty officer in the avalanche warning service Gustav Pless said.

In Romsdal, Sunnmøre and Indre Fjordane, there is a red danger warning for Sunday, which is the second highest level. In addition, there is an orange danger warning for West Finnmark, North Troms, Lyngen, Tromsø, South Troms, Inner Troms, Svartisen, Helgeland, Trollheimen, Jotunheimen, Indre Sogn, Voss, and Hardanger.
