The child who the police believe was subjected to violence in Trøndelag died on Thursday at St. Olav’s hospital in Trondheim.

Two people are charged with aggravated domestic violence.

The child, not even one year old, was admitted to St. Olav’s hospital with internal injuries on Friday last week.

On Monday, the police started an investigation after being notified by the hospital.

“The child was declared dead on Thursday afternoon at St. Olav’s hospital. The relatives have been notified,” the police wrote in a press release on Friday morning.

High priority case

“The police take all cases involving possible violence against children very seriously.

“We give high priority to the case and have started a broad investigation. We are in an early phase (of the investigation).

“We’re working with several hypotheses,” Silje Noem, police attorney in Trøndelag Police District, said on Thursday.
