In total, passenger transport by rail, tramway, and buses fell by 14% from 2019 to 2020. The decline was strongest for rail, air, and sea transport.
Measured in kilometers, road transport accounted for 92% of domestic passenger transport last year – an increase of 6% compared with 2019, the figures from Statistics Norway (SSB) show.
The figures for road transport include transport by buses, taxis, cars, motorcycles, and mopeds.
Air transport had a share of 4% – a decrease of 3% from 2019. Rail transport halved from 6 to 3%, while sea transport accounted for 1% of last year’s total passenger transport.
