Defense Minister Gram: It may be relevant to get NATO assistance on the Norwegian continental shelf

Norway’s Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram (SP) does not rule out the possibility of asking NATO for assistance to protect the Norwegian continental shelf.

“We have good dialogue with NATO and close allies, but so far, we have not asked for that type of assistance. I do not want to rule out that it could become relevant,” he told NTB.

He also said that the Army must strengthen its own presence in the relevant coastal areas.

On Tuesday, multiple leaks on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines were detected off the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. Both experts and politicians believe that the leaks are due to sabotage.

Norway has increased preparedness on the Norwegian continental shelf after the news broke.

  1. Why? Does Norway fear retaliation? Was Norway – probably not – involved in this caper too?
Meanwhile, the official narrative leaking like the Titanic, British Telegraph has come out claiming Russian naval assets were down there.
The British have a tradition of frogman espionage:
Daily Mail: “Was Buster Crabb taken by the Soviets? Secret files reveal twist in Cold War spy death of the Navy frogman
Frogman vanished during MI6 mission and body washed up a year later
He was sent underwater to spy on Russian naval cruiser in Portsmouth
Incident sparked conspiracy theories and was an embarrassment for PM
Security services believed Soviets could have taken Crabb dead or alive”
This explains the Poles – Sikorski – openly pointing the finger at the U.S. … to cover for Poland’s British best friends. And the 2014 Kyiv opposition/coup snipers being trained in Poland now points back at the British being instrumental in coordinating the coup too.
John le Carre, where are you when we need you? 🙂

And what NATO naval elements were on hand? Royal Navy? And had the Russians gotten wind of this (say, from a German) and sent their own down there for security?
Again – obviously – it’s just starting to get cold and have effect on European public opinion. There is no way the Russians would have wrecked their own pipeline at this point in time, with cold-suffering European families soon to demand they get Russian gas.
