Out of 120 new analyzed corona samples from Nordre Follo, the mutated coronavirus was detected in eight of them.

With these eight, a total of 25 cases of the British mutation of the coronavirus have now been confirmed in Nordre Follo.

The more contagious corona variant has led to a complete lockdown in the Norde Follo Municipality and a number of municipalities around it, including Oslo.

“I experience it as positive that so many of the samples that were sent to the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) for analysis did not discover the mutated virus. Of course, all cases of the UK variant are serious,” municipal chief medical officer Kerstin Johnsen Myhrvold noted in a press release.

The Municipality expects the results of more tests during Monday.

Connections

Out of the eight new corona samples that have been analyzed, seven are directly connected to the Langhus center and Tussestien kindergarten, which have previously been connected to the outbreak.

“The latest case of the mutated virus will require more work to track,” the Municipality states.

On Monday morning, Mayor Hanne Opdan in Nordre Follo told TV 2 that they feel they have control over the outbreak.

“What we know as of now is that we have 74 cases of infection associated with this outbreak, and we believe that the outbreak is under control,” she said.
