Pregnant women who do not belong to one of the risk groups can now receive the coronavirus vaccine after consultation with a doctor.
“Pregnant women have a slightly higher risk of hospitalization if they receive COVID-19 than women who are not pregnant, even without underlying risk conditions.
“Therefore, we want to open up more for all pregnant women to consider vaccination in consultation with a doctor,” Helena Niemi Eide of the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) stated.
New studies show that vaccination is safe for pregnant women, a press release from the FHI notes.
Vaccination has so far only been considered for pregnant women with underlying health conditions that increase the risk of a serious course of COVID-19.
