King Harald will be discharged from Rikshospitalet on Monday, Norway’s Royal House announced.
“The king is in good shape, and he will be returning home from Rikshospitalet today,” the king’s personal physician Bjørn Bendz said in a press release.
This weekend, Norway’s Royal House stated that the king was fine after Friday’s operation – heart valve surgery.
“The king has had a short walk, and his condition is good,” Bendz said at the time.
Operated in 2005
An artificial heart valve was then inserted.
Such heart valves usually have a “lifespan” of 10 to 15 years.
Therefore, it is not uncommon for such interventions to have to be repeated after some time – in the king’s case, after 15 years.
Such operations are performed several hundred times a year at Rikshospitalet.
