According to the Norwegian Directorate of Health, about half of the municipalities in Norway face challenges when it comes to finding health personnel.

During a meeting on Wednesday, where, among others, the FHI, the county governors, and the regional health authorities were present, Health Director Bjørn Guldvog highlighted the shortage of personnel in the municipalities.

“172 municipalities report challenges when it comes to accessing personnel and critical competence. This means that approximately 50% of the municipalities have significant difficulties with access to health personnel, especially doctors and nurses,” a report from the meeting states.

Guldvog believes that “health services are under particular pressure in urban areas with high levels of infection – such as Oslo and Viken.”
