The Innlandet Police District warns people against crypto fraud after two people lost millions on fraudulent investments.

The two persons in question lost NOK 2.2 and 1.8 million, respectively. The money is probably lost for good.

“Our most important advice is not to invest money via links on email, Facebook, or other social media,” police chief Knut Johannson Ødegaard noted.

According to the police, the scam can, for example, start with a Facebook ad that promises a good return on investment.

“The moment you have transferred money, you have lost control of it,” the police warn.

The police advise people to never share personal passwords or BankID with anyone, not even family or police. Also, people are advised never to invest in cryptocurrency through ads on social media or via email.
