It’s official: The Labor Party wants Masud Gharahkhani to be the new President of the Norwegian parliament

39-year-old Masud Gharahkhani has been nominated by the Labor Party (AP) as the new President of the Norwegian parliament (Storting), and Kari Henriksen has been nominated as Vice President.

Gharahkhani has been presented as the party’s candidate at 9:45 AM in Vandrehallen in the Storting. In a press release, the Labor Party also confirmed that Kari Henriksen would be nominated as Vice President.

Iranian-born Gharahkhani is a parliamentary representative for Buskerud. He is from Skotselv in Øvre Eiker, and he has had a permanent seat in the Storting since 2017.

Gharahkhani has been the leader of the Labor Party’s migration committee and has until now been the second deputy chair of the business committee in the Storting.
