Children and young people, as well as students in upper secondary school in Ålesund, Sula, and Giske in Møre og Romsdal, are now released from quarantine if they are close contacts.

From noon on January 12, national quarantine rules will apply to children, young people, and upper secondary school students in the municipalities of Ålesund, Sula, and Giske in Møre og Romsdal.

Local corona regulations were introduced due to the high infection pressure in the region.

“The infection pressure in the Ålesund region is now lower than in the country as a whole. There is thus no basis for having stricter rules locally,” chief medical officer Alexander Wiig in Ålesund Municipality told the newspaper Sunnmørsposten.

The local regulations came into force before Christmas on December 15 and were initially to apply until December 29 but were extended until January 12.
