Missing base jumper found dead in Loen

The base jumper who was reported missing in Loen in Stryn on Saturday has been found dead. The deceased is a woman in her 40s, the Western Police District announced.

The base jumper was reported missing at 3:30 PM after she did not show up for work. The woman was last seen just before 9 AM in the gondola on her way up to jump.

In a press release, the police stated that a rescue operation was launched with rescue crews that included the emergency services, volunteers, and a rescue helicopter from Florø.

The rescue helicopter reported the discovery of a dead person at 5:43 PM on Saturday.

The police stated that they are opening a case but that everything indicates that this was a tragic accident.
