The municipal strike will be stepped up further from Tuesday. After the escalation, about 25,000 members will be on strike.

Newspaper Bergensavisen reports that 221 new members have already been taken out on strike in Bergen.

Negotiation leader Steffen Handal told news bureau NTB that the strike will be stepped up from Tuesday – around 2,000 new members are expected to join the strike.

The strike, which has been in motion since May 27, already includes 22,667 Unio members, of which 1,891 in Oslo. The members who have gone on strike are teachers and health workers.

Unio has sent out strike notices on Thursday afternoon. The escalation affects the municipalities where there are already Unio members on strike.

A total of 74% of respondents support the Unio strike, according to a recent survey.
