After it was confirmed that US President Donald Trump tested positive for the coronavirus, Labor Party (AP) leader Jonas Gahr Støre wished him a quick recovery.

However, he pointed out that the American president hasn’t taken the infection very seriously.

“Trump has demonstrated that he hasn’t taken this infection very seriously. He held large gatherings, and he hasn’t used a face mask,” Støre said, adding that, by doing so, Trump became the flag bearer of the camp that didn’t believe in the seriousness of the virus.

An important reminder

“But he is in the risk group, and now that he has been infected, we must wish him a good recovery,” Støre emphasized.

“This is a reminder that we must not get tired of the measures, especially those who are in the risk groups,” he said.

Støre also noted that the situation would make the American election campaign even more unpredictable in the weeks ahead.

Earlier on Friday, Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg also wished Trump a speedy recovery.
