Kindergarten and elementary school children in Norway are allowed to celebrate birthdays and Halloween with their cohort, the Norwegian government confirmed on Monday.

On Monday afternoon, the Norwegian government announced new national anti-corona measures.

“Children will be allowed to be with kids they already spend a lot of time with,” Minister of Education Guri Melby (V) said at the government’s press conference.

“It (editor’s note: the new measures) is not as strict for the youngest as it is for the adults,” Melby added.

However, she stressed that parents must check the local infection control rules before inviting children to a party.

Following basic rules

“It is very important that young people also comply with the basic infection control rules,” Melby said, adding that the goal is to be able to relax the measures for Christmas.

“We hope that all children can give grandma and grandpa a hug for Christmas,” she concluded.
