Minister of Health Bent Høie (H) says Norway has control of the coronavirus pandemic but warns that the country faces another wave.

“If we are to succeed in this once again, it is important that each of us now sees that we are in a dire situation. We are facing the second wave,” Høie said at the government’s press conference on the corona situation in Norway on Tuesday.

He announced that the government is coming up with stricter corona measures to limit the infection.

The new measures will be announced later this week.

Høie also said that they, among other things, the government will look at the areas where there is still a lot of infection.

“Everyone needs to help”

“It is about contexts where we meet many people, and it is also related to travel activities internationally, especially business travel from Europe – where there is a very high risk of infection,” he noted.

Høie emphasized the importance of everyone helping to limit the infection.

“We still have control, but we under pressure. That means that if the municipalities fail to keep testing, tracking, and isolation up, we will begin to lose control.

“Therefore, we are completely dependent on everyone following the four main tips: stay at home if you’re sick, wash your hands, keep a reasonable distance (from others) and limit the number of people you meet,” he concluded.
