On Monday, the Southeastern Police District has received several reports of bomb threats in Kongsberg. The threats were not real.

Operations manager Marianne Mørch in the Southeastern Police District told the newspaper VG that up to 60 people in the area have received the threat via text message.

“We have found that these are fake messages, just nonsense. Efforts are being made to find out who is behind it,” the police said.

According to the newspaper Laagendalsposten, the text message stated: “I’ve placed three different bombs around cars in your neighborhood. Send NOK 50,000 to the account number below. (…) Otherwise, the bombs will detonate at 02:15.”
