The number of passengers at Norwegian airports increased by 49% in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter the year before. In total, there were 8.4 million air passengers.

That amounts to 2.8 million more passengers than in the third quarter of 2020, new figures from Statistics Norway (SSB) show.

The increase in travel activity is due to the relaxation of corona measures, and international flights registered the highest increase in passengers.

The number of passengers on flights to and from abroad amounted to 1.8 million, an increase of 85%. At the same time, there were 6.6 million passengers on domestic flights, an increase of 42%.

The increase was greatest in September, with a total increase of 80% from the same month in 2020.
