A record 13,585 people moved out of Oslo between July and September. Only 12,945 moved into the city from elsewhere in the country in the third quarter.

In August this year, the newspaper Aftenposten reported that the population in Oslo went down for the first time. By then, relocation from the city had been at a record high three quarters in a row.

The growth in emigration is particularly large among young adults.

In addition, 2,512 children were born in Oslo in the third quarter, while 985 Oslo citizens died.
