Kyiv’s 2.8 million inhabitants have been asked to enter bomb shelters if possible due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A state of emergency has been imposed in the city since 5:30 local time by order of President Volodymyr Zelenskyj, initially for 30 days.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of the separatist regions of Luhansk and Donetsk in eastern Ukraine early on Thursday.

However, there have already been military clashes near Kyiv, including at a military airport.
