On Friday night, the Oslo police stopped 945 people to check if they were carrying weapons. Six people were wearing knives and were reported.

“We believe that they didn’t have a so-called justifiable reason to carry a knife, and they will be reported for it,” operations manager Rune Hekkelstrand told the newspaper VG.

A dozen police officers, both in uniform and in civilian clothes, were involved in the operation that started at 10 PM on Friday at Jernbanetorget in central Oslo, VG writes.

Operations Manager Hekkelstrand describes the action as one of the police’s many tools to prevent violence and unwanted incidents.

In addition, two people were reported for possession of drugs, the police say.
