Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) says it is a dramatic experience to see the pictures from the scene of the accident and the landslide in Gjerdrum.

“It is a dramatic experience to be here and see pictures from the scene of the accident and the whole landslide, and of course the knowledge that there are many who have not been accounted for yet,” Solberg said.

A total of 21 people have still not been accounted for after the landslide, and 700 have been evacuated.

The Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Monica Mæland (H) are on-site. They are being briefed on the situation.

Solberg to rescue crews: “Thank you very much”

Solberg also thanked the rescue crews for their efforts.

“I want to say thank you very much for the work you do. I know that this is both demanding and hard for everyone involved,” the Prime Minister told the emergency management workers before she went to the briefing.

Solberg announced that she would make more comments afterward.

At least nine people have been injured in the landslide in Gjerdrum. Pictures from the site show that several houses were located in the middle of the landslide area.
