Traditionally, Cross Processions are arranged in a number of Norwegian cities on Good Friday. The Cross was carried through both Oslo, Trondheim and Stavanger.

In the capital, the common church walk has been arranged for almost 35 years. This year’s cross procession began at Oslo’s Central Station at 5 pm on Friday afternoon.

At the stops there was a reading from Jesus’ story of suffering. The hike takes place in solidarity with the persecuted, oppressed and suffering people in this city and in the world, the City Mission said on its website.

After the cross has been carried through the streets of Oslo, the marking continued in the Oslo Cathedral. IWaiting in the Cathedral was Oslo’s Choir and Kåre Nordstoga for musical contributions. The church was open all night to serve for parishioners through Easter evening.

Procession of the Cross was also held in Trondheim, Stavanger, Drammen and Moss.
