There is a broad political agreement in Stavanger that the recently deceased Per Inge Torkelsen should be honored.
The late comedian might get a statue.
“I do not remember the last time we did that in Stavanger. Per Inge Torkelsen has meant a lot to the city and I think there is clearly a basis for erecting a statue of him,” group leader Dag Mossige in the Stavanger Labor Party (AP) told newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad.
He will request that the proposal be considered at the first municipal board meeting after the holiday.
Both the Conservatives (H) and the Center Party (SP) agree that Torkelsen should be honored, and they believe a statue is one of many ways he can be honored.
“I want us to talk to the immediate family about how they think we can best honor him,” Conservative Party group leader Sissel Knutsen Hegda said.
