The Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs has opened an investigation and questioned two police officers after the incident in which the police killed a 33-year-old man in Bislett on Tuesday.

The bureau stated on Wednesday that the two police officers have the status of suspects and that their performance on the job is being investigated.

“Furthermore, we have questioned several witnesses. We will continue with both tactical and technical investigations in the future, and the case is a high priority,” the bureau wrote.

The dead 33-year-old man will be autopsied during the day, but it is not yet clear when a preliminary autopsy report will be available.

The bureau is receiving assistance from Kripos in its investigation of the incident.

Case background

The police were notified of the incident at Bislett on Tuesday morning. A police patrol that was nearby quickly arrived at the scene.

Videos from the place show, among other things, that the police car drove over the man several times before it drove into the wall next to the man. The perpetrator is said to have tried to get into the police car and attack the police with a knife. In connection with the incident, the police fired several shots.

“It is too early to say anything about when we will receive the results of the forensic investigations,” the bureau noted on Wednesday.
