Sweden’s King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia received the first dose of the corona vaccine on Friday, the Swedish royal family announced.

In a short press release, the royal family wrote that the king’s physician carried out the vaccination at Stenhammar’s castle, where the royal couple currently lives.

The press release did not reveal which corona vaccine the royal couple received.

“The major vaccination drive against COVID-19 is now underway around our country.

“It is my hope that everyone who has the opportunity to be vaccinated in the coming months chooses to do so so that we can get through this difficult time together and as soon as possible,” King Carl Gustaf said.

Norway’s King Harald and Queen Sonja received the first of two doses of the corona vaccine on Wednesday.
