Update: Police confront man at Bislett in Oslo, shoot him: “A threatening situation”

The Oslo police told NTB that they had fired shots at Bislett in Oslo and shot a person. 

The police say they were notified just before 9 o’clock that there was a threatening person with a knife in ​​Tereses gate at Bislett in Oslo. A police patrol was on the scene shortly after.

“At this point, there was a confrontation with the person, and a threatening situation, where shots were fired,” operations manager Tore Solberg told NTB.

“The person has been hit by the shots and is receiving health treatment. The person has been taken to the hospital. We will make a fuller statement later,” the operations manager added.

Looking for several possibly injured people

He says the police do not have an overview of what has happened prior to the confrontation between the person and the police. Therefore, they are looking for several possibly injured people. 

“We are in the area with many police patrols. We have no information about what happened before we got there,” Solberg said.

“We got information in a report that there was a man with a knife who was threatening people in the area,” he noted.

Police officer injured

The police confirmed that a police officer was injured in connection with the incident at Bislett. 

“The police are still working on the spot. The task leader will give a statement on the spot shortly,” the Oslo police wrote on Twitter at 10:13 AM.

The Ministry of Justice stated that Minister of Justice and Emergency Management Emilie Enger Mehl (SP) had been informed of the incident at Bislett in Oslo.

“Minister of Justice and Emergency Management Emilie Enger Mehl has been informed about the incident at Bislett in Oslo, and is following the situation,” the ministry wrote on Twitter.
