The police broke up a religious gathering with over 20 participants in Sarpsborg on the first day of Christmas. The organizer has been reported for violation of the municipality’s corona regulations.

“All public events indoors are prohibited by regulation,” the Eastern Police District pointed out on Twitter.

According to the police, more than 20 people were gathered at the religious gathering.

Operations Manager Ronny Samuelsen in the Eastern Police District stated that the police received messages from people who had seen many people go to the same address.

22 people present

There were 22 people present at the location when the police arrived at the scene.

“Names were written down with a view to possible infection tracing,” Samuelsen said.

Sarpsborg introduced a ban on indoor events on December 23, which applies until January 7.

“We have followed all the rules but have not seen this information. It was a misunderstanding,” Imam Ardian Haliti in the Albanian cultural and religious community told newspaper VG.
