On Saturday, four couples got married at Norway’s iconic Trolltunga rock, which sits 1100 meters above sea level in Hardanger. This is a big first!
“Fantastic, what an adventure,” stated Njål-Stian Børdal just after saying “I do” to Lise Lunde Sydnes on Saturday.
Three other couples were also wedded the same day. The four pairs thus became the first people to ever get married on the famous rock near Tyssedal in Ullensvang Municipality.
Sydnes and Børdal were transported up by helicopter. “It was an amazing trip,” said Sydnes.
The mayor of Ullensvang municipality, Roald Aga Haug, told NRK that he has had the idea of marrying someone at Trolltunga for years. The mayor also took a helicopter to Trolltunga. He says that he got the idea for a wedding at Trolltunga in 2017.
“I think it went fantastically well,” he noted right after the four weddings were completed.
“The atmosphere was magical and the weddings at Trolltunga itself were spectacular. A bride and groom walked in the morning about 10 kilometers up the high mountains to Trolltunga. It was a Hardanger adventure in the Tyssedal mountains,” he concluded
