This year’s big Norwegian computer-game happening, The Gathering 2019, is underway
Thousands of young people have gathered at Hamar to play computer games during ‘The Gathering’. There are also politicians and businesses, who are increasingly concerned with the development and professionalism of games, present.
‘’We want to help stimulate the industry as a cultural and creative industry and to realise the potential for the sale of Norwegian games in Norway and abroad,’’ said Minister of Culture, Trine Skei Grande.
The Minister of Culture emphasised the computer game industry as being a cultural and creative industry. At the same time, there is a need for a professionalisation of the gaming industry through strengthened expertise and recruitment, as well as making it easier to retain strong companies and gaming expertise in Norway.
Culture and Artificial Intelligence
It is the second consecutive year that the Minister of Culture was present during the opening day of ‘The Gathering’. Also present were the trade organisation, Virke and shops who sell computer game equipment.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the overall theme of this year’s ‘The Gathering.’
