A high-pressure area is on its way towards Southern Norway. The weather is likely to be sunny for people in the south of the country.
” We have a very nice weekend ahead. There is every reason to bring out sunscreen and sunglasses,” state meteorologist Martin Granerød at the Meteorological Institute told NTB.
The high-pressure area, which is currently out in the Norwegian Sea, is building up and will affect the weather throughout the Easter holidays, Granerød added.
There will be long periods of sun and great Easter weather over large parts of Southern Norway.
Temperatures will be between 13-15 degrees in the lowlands. Calm wind conditions are expected both in the mountains and in the lowlands.
Nice Easter weather conditions in the mountains
The whole weekend will be characterized by good weather, but the very best weather will probably come on Friday, the meteorologist noted.
The high-pressure area will first and foremost hit Western Norway. At the same time, the low-pressure area will move east on Thursday, and it will take some time before the weather changes.
Along the west coast, the Easter days can be characterized by some fog in the morning. The temperature can reach up to 15 degrees in Western Norway, Granerød said.
“There will be periods of slightly cloudy weather in Western Norway,” he added.
Central Norway will also be able to benefit from the high-pressure area. Saturday will be somewhat cloudy, but there will be calm wind conditions.
“We expect very nice Easter weather conditions in the mountains,” the meteorologist stated.
Gray weather in the north
While large parts of Southern Norway will bathe in the Easter sun, the forecast looks somewhat grayer in Northern Norway.
“In Nordland, there will be a lot of wind coming in from the sea, bringing along a cloud cover that will persist through the weekend. On Friday, there will be a lot of fog along the coast,” Granerød said.
This weekend, the temperatures along the coast will be between 5-8 degrees, there will be little wind, and there may be occasional rain showers.
There have been a number of avalanches both in the north and west recently. The risk of avalanches is still significant in several places, and meteorologists are asking skiers to be careful.
In Troms og Finnmark, there may be a glimmer of sun on Friday, but overall, the weekend will be characterized by gray weather.
