It was cold for those who slept in tents in Hovden in Agder last night. During the morning hours on Monday, the temperature fell to -1.8 degrees, according to meteorologists.
On the night before Monday, 1.8 degrees below zero were reported at Hovden in Agder county, meteorologists reported.
However, such temperatures are not entirely unusual for the mountain municipality, which is located 800 meters above sea level. In 2015, the area set the cold record for June at -3.7 degrees. Last year, -2.7 degrees were reported.
“It is normal to have cold temperatures when you have clear summer nights in the heights,” on-duty meteorologist Magnus Ovhed told news bureau NTB.
The cold temperatures are thus not related to climate change, the meteorologist added.
Hovden also holds the cold record in Southern Norway from 2015. The coldest temperatures in July were measured nationally at Fannaråken at 2,068 meters above sea level, at -8.3 degrees, and Sognefjellshytta at 1,400 meters above sea level at -7.2 degrees.
