Emma tops Statistics Norway’s most popular name for girls in 2019. Jakob was the most popular boy name.
393 girls were given the name Emma last year, which is closely followed by Nora in the name statistics. Sofie is number three. Emma has dominated the namesake since 2003 and is the name of the year for the tenth time.
423 boys were named Jacob or Jakob, with Lucas or Lukas as number two in the statistics and various variants of the name Filip as number three. Jacob was also on top of the list in 2017.
Short girl names ending in ‘a’ have retained popularity for several years, while biblical names and well-known sports names make a bigger mark on the boy names list.
