In an open letter, Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) and several European top leaders ask the world to stand together in the Coronavirus fight and to open their wallets for vaccine development.

The letter was published in newspapers such as The Independent and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Saturday ahead of a virtual donor country conference on Monday to gather political and financial support to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.

Together with the other European leaders, Solberg aims to raise € 7.5 billion, which is in excess of NOK 85 billion. The money is mainly to be distributed among established international health organizations.

– The money we collect will contribute to a unique global collaboration between researchers and regulators, industry and governments, international organizations, foundations, and health care representatives, it states.

The letter was signed by French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and EU President Charles Michel, in addition to Solberg.
