Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg wished King Harald a swift recovery after he was admitted to Rikshospitalet on Friday morning.

“I wish for the king to get well,” Solberg told news bureau NTB.

King Harald (83) was admitted to Rikshospitalet in Oslo on Friday morning.

King Harald’s admission to the hospital means that Crown Prince Haakon will lead the cabinet of ministers on Friday.

“We currently have no more information than what we shared in the press release. The Crown Prince Regent will be leading the cabinet today,” communications manager Guri Varpe told news bureau NTB.

Royal work dynamics

In an interview with NTB published earlier in September, Crown Prince Haakon, now 47 years old, commented on the division of work in the Norwegian royal family in the coronavirus era.

Most of the official tasks fell on him and his 83-year-old father, Crown Prince Haakon explained.

“Until now, I think we have managed to work quite well together. I think of it as a team… we distribute the work a little to get the best possible result.

I think we will continue to do that in the years to come as well,” Crown Prince Haakon told NTB.
