Over nine out of ten parents are satisfied with kindergartens in Norway. The parents are most satisfied with the child’s safety and well-being in the kindergarten, according to the Directorate of Education.

The Norwegian Directorate of Education’s 2021 parent survey shows that 93% of the parents are largely satisfied with the kindergartens and that the corona situation does not seem to affect satisfaction levels.

In particular, the parents are satisfied with the security and well-being of children in kindergartens.

According to the survey, one in ten parents is dissatisfied with the food offer, while 16% are dissatisfied with the staffing levels. This is on a par with 2019 levels.

The importance of kindergartens

“On the way out of a pandemic, which has really shown how important kindergartens are for society to function, we must take action and ensure that it is good for children to go to kindergarten and that our kindergartens are good workplaces,” the Directorate noted.

About 270,000 children go to kindergarten in Norway.
