The barbecue season is underway, and the Norwegian Fire Protection Association reminds people of the fire risk that accompanies barbecues.

“Every year, grilling leads to fires and injuries. Therefore, it is important to show great care when grilling. For those who use gas grills, it is important that they do regular maintenance on their grills,” CEO Rolf Søtorp of the Norwegian Fire Protection Association noted.

Between April 15 and September 15, there is also a general fire ban on open fires in forests and outlying areas in Norway – in order to prevent forest fires. Søtorp recommends using adapted campfire and barbecue areas and advises people against using disposable grills.

“If you are going to barbecue outdoors, we recommend that you have a grill that can be reused,” Søtorp concluded.
