The meteor, which was visible over large parts of the country on Sunday night, created a powerful shock wave.
In an update, the Norwegian Meteor Network writes that no major damage has been reported beyond broken windows.
NORSAR’s seismic stations also registered the shock wave as it hit the ground, TV 2 reports.
NORSAR states that signals were registered between 1:10 AM and 1:15 AM.
“Based on the observations, we can say – with high probability – that the meteor broke the sound barrier during this time,” NORSAR wrote.
