In the state budget, the government proposes to increase the child allowance by NOK 3,600 a year for children up to the age of six. In this case, it will happen from 1 September 2020.

KrF leader and children and family minister Kjell Ingolf Ropstad describes it as an important victory for the party.

“We increased the child benefit for all children for the first time in 20 years this past March, and now it further increases for children up to the age of six. The fact that KrF is now a part of the government, has finally made it possible for the increase in the child benefit. I’m happy for that. This is an important boost for families with children,” says Ropstad in a statement to NTB.

“Investing in children and families is the best investment for the future. Increased child benefit provides children who grow up in families with low incomes, better opportunities,” the KrF minister continues.

In the Granavold platform, the government parties have pledged to increase child allowance for children up to the age of six with a total of NOK 7,200 a year.
