The government will extend the scheme of free core time for children in asylum centers to also apply to one-year-olds.

In the revised national budget, the Government proposes to spend NOK 3.2 million this year.

Free core time helps to ensure that children who get residency an early start in the process of integration and to learn Norwegian. This is in line with other measures we have put in place for parents. They need to get started with the Norwegian language education in the reception centers more quickly, and it will be easier when the children can go to kindergarten, Jan Tore Sanner (H), the Minister of Knowledge and Integration says.
