Village of Fucking decides to change name
The village Fucking in Austria has decided to change its name. The inhabitants are tired of thieves running away with the signs with the village name.
The change will take place from the turn of the year.
As the new year is celebrated with a New Year’s concert in Vienna, the village name will be changed to Fugging.
Mayor Andrea Holzner confirmed the decision in interviews with Austrian media this week.
Stolen signs
Fucking residents have long been annoyed with the signs of the village name being stolen.
The hope is that the new signs will be left alone.
Some of the approximately one hundred inhabitants have long been eager for a name change of the village in Austria.
In addition to sign thieves, the villagers have been exposed to many bad jokes and a lot of unwanted attention from tourists over the years.
