106 Vard employees lose their jobs in Brevik

The board of the Vard Group has decided that the yard in Brevik will be closed, and all 106 employees will lose their jobs.

Employees were informed at the end of the workday on Thursday, Telemarksavisa writes.

“A decision by the board of Vard Group has been made that we will not be working on any new contracts in Brevik,” Vard Offshore CEO Erik Haakonsholm told the newspaper.

The company was hit hard by the oil crisis and has struggled to get back on its feet. In 2018, the company had a loss of 1.8 billion.

According to Haakonsholm, the company wants to find new owners for the yard so that the workplaces can be secured.

– “We have started this process, and we will continue with that in the future. Our lease expires in 2020, and the answer to whether we will succeed or not should come by that time,” he says.
