Kapital: Norway has 444 billionaires

According to Kapital’s overview, there are now 444 billionaires in Norway, and the richest of them all is John Fredriksen.

One had to have a fortune of NOK 1.2 billion to make the financial magazine Kapital’s annual list of Norway’s 400 richest people in the country this year.

“The total wealth of Norway’s 400 richest is now NOK 1,884 billion. That corresponds to an increase of 11% from last year and is a historically high figure,” Kapital’s editor Trygve Hegnar stated.

According to the financial magazine, Norway got 37 new billionaires during the past year.

For the 20th year in a row, shipowner John Fredriksen tops the wealth list, with an estimated fortune of NOK 124 billion. Fredriksen’s account has grown by NOK 10 billion since last year.

Rema 1000 owner Odd Reitan is in second place, and hedge fund manager Ole Andreas Halvorsen is in third place. They have a combined fortune of NOK 64 and 62.5 billion, respectively, according to Kapital.

Norway’s richest woman is shipping heiress Else Helene Sundt, with an estimated fortune of NOK 8.7 billion.
