2.3 per cent of Norwegians unemployed in November

800 more unemployment recipients in November, according to seasonally adjusted Nav numbers. However, adjusted for a new registration solution, the number of unemployed fell by 900.

By the end of November, there were registered 62,400 unemployed at Nav. That accounts for 2.3 per cent of the workforce.

Gross unemployment, which also includes job seekers who participate in measures from Nav, was 78,400. This corresponds to 2.8 per cent of the workforce, the Labor and Welfare Service quotes Friday.

However, a change in Nav’s search engine registration solution provides a statistical violation that allows the November numbers to be interpreted in different ways.

Nav estimates 2,500 more unemployed registered in November 2018 than it would be without the new solution. Adjusted for this break, there was a decline of 900 people in November, while the seasonally adjusted figures show 800 more unemployed.

However, as a percentage of the workforce, the share of unemployed remained relatively stable between 2.3 and 2.4 per cent in 2018, also after the November breakdown.
