The Progress Party (FRP) has joined the government parties to pass the payout of holiday pay to everyone who has been unemployed in 2020 and 2021.

The position became clear after a meeting of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee in the Norwegian parliament (Storting) on Thursday.

The agreement means that everyone who has received unemployment benefits in 2020 and 2021 will be paid holiday benefits this year and next year.

“It is an important issue with the situation we now have with over 200,000 unemployed (workers),” committee leader Erlend Wiborg (FRP) told news bureau NTB.

The committee also confirmed the Storting’s previous decision to extend the redundancy schemes introduced in connection with the corona crisis until 1 October.
