Aker Horizon has bought two plots in Narvik – it is investing in a company with plans to start battery production. The goal is to create a green industrial hub in the north.

The Aker Group’s subsidiary Aker Narvik bought the plots Ballangsleira and Framneslia from Narvik Municipality for a total of NOK 200 million.

In addition, Aker Horizon is investing NOK 90 million in the newly started company Narvik Batteri AS and securing 75% of the shares. The company will develop the Hergot area in Narvik for battery production.

“The region has several advantages as a green cluster for activities in Northern Norway, such as access to attractive renewable energy, good transport connections, including roads, railways, and ports, as well as a local community that is willing to support new green solutions,” Kristian Røkke, CEO of Aker Horizons, stated.
