Alcohol sales in Norway increased sharply in third quarter of 2020
In the third quarter of this year, Norwegians bought 8,561,000 liters of pure alcohol, 29.3% more than in the third quarter last year.
A total of 1.93 liters of pure alcohol per capita was sold in the third quarter of this year, which is an increase of 27.8% from the same quarter in 2019.
The reason for the increased alcohol sales is probably the absence of cross-border trade in the third quarter.
New figures from Statistics Norway show that the increase is greatest for wine, with 46.5%.
For spirits and soft drinks, the increase was 36.0% and 38.1%, respectively, while beer registered an increase of 13.3%.
Measured in the number of liters of alcoholic beverages, a total of 113,887,000 liters were sold.
That is an increase of 22.1% compared with the third quarter of 2019.
