The rent for a mortgage should be around 1.5 to 1.6 percent, according to the Consumer Council. If you pay over 2 percent, you should renegotiate with your bank or change bank.

-” You won’t always succeed, so then you must change bank”, said Director Jorge Jensen of the Consumer Council to Nettavisen.

He understands that the banks have not lowered the mortgage rate to 1 percent.

-” but i would say that for a well-secured mortgage, the interest should be down to 1.5 or 1.6 percent, and it is possible to get it below that as well. IIf you pay more than 2 percent, then you haven’t received the banks best offer.” he says.
