Around 40% of the employees in Seadrill Norway Crew could lose their jobs when two rigs complete their assignments in the new year.

Seadrill has 1,050 employees in Norway through the company Seadrill Norway Crew AS, which is headquartered in Stavanger.

This spring, the rig “West Bollsta” will complete its drilling program, and the contract with Lundin will be terminated. In addition, the rig “West Hercules” will go to Canada on a six-month assignment from February or March. This means that up to 400 employees could become redundant in the company, the newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad writes.

“Redundancy notifications will probably be sent out just before Christmas. Everyone gets three months’ notice,” Arild Jenssen told the newspaper.
