It would again be possible to be out and about in Oslo in May. The municipality has decided to reopen eateries. Priority is also given to places that serve food.

Bars and pubs will open, confirmed City Councilor Raymond Johansen (AP) to NRK.

The municipality decided to close places that serve food for a month after checks showed that several places failed to comply with the infection control rules.

Johansen said last week that the municipality would probably start a gradual reopening in May, and the confirmation came ahead of the city council meeting on Wednesday.

Some Oslo residents have chosen to go to neighbouring municipalities in order to enjoy a night out in the nice weather.

Johansen had earlier said he did not want to reprimand people who chose to do this.
